THE WALT DISNEY COMPANY
An interactive framework that drives engagement beyond content consumption
for the user across Disney platforms
Because I'm lazy it's not an interaction at all, but instead just a a fixed div for the timeline and a sticky div for the dot.
I facilitated a team brainstorming session, giving each designer ,including myself, 5 minutes to brainstorm ideas around entertainment, news, and sports for each prompt and input type.
Key Takeaways:
- Certain prompt and input styles work better than others for specific content
- How a user interacts with the feature, aka gesture, swipe, voice, can affect their experience with the feature
After the brainstorming session and discussion, I started to iterate on ideas to see which ones would hold up through stress testing of different user scenarios.
Here is a concept I did not move forward with due to feasibility concerns but it shows different variations that a prompt and input feature could have depending on the content and platform.
After a round of feedback sessions with design leadership and individual product partners, I decided to consolidate the prompt & input types into 1 main prompt style and 2 prompt types
This allows us to adjust the framework more efficiently depending on the content and brand implementing the interaction.
Moving forward, I designed mid- to high fidelity wireframes of the new framework. I then leveraged Disney's universal Library and design system to stress test the framework against ABC News, ESPN, and Disney.com
Stress testing allows for the team to see how well the interaction addresses brand specific user scenarios before being added to the universal library

Here's What I'd Do Next, and My Takeaways
Research, Research, Research
I value the input and opinion of the user a great deal when designing experiences. Because of the nature of this project, I did not have the opportunity to do thorough usability tests of this prompt and Input framework so for next steps I would love to put these experiences in front of the user to learn more about their expectations toward this feature. I feel that valid input from users of the different digital platforms would bring value and clarification around the design choices made for this feature
Working on this project was one of the most rewarding experiences for me, as it was my very first project as a full time UX Designer on the Experience design team. I collaborated closely with the team to define, brainstorm , and develop various designs and I learned how to navigate a complex and ambiguous problem space. I was surrounded by inspiring people who have all pushed and guided me to grow. This was my first opportunity to work on my craft, but I also got an opportunity to work on my soft skills such as confidence, communication, and leadership.
